Week 2
It's hard to believe that it's already week 2 because this first week just flew by!
In terms of events, this was a pretty slow week because I didn't have any events to work. The good thing about that though is that I had extra time to focus on my assignments in my classes. I did have a short meeting this week about starting mentor groups so it was exciting to learn more about that because that is one of the responsibilities I was most looking forward to! All of us Ambassadors are assigned mentor groups, but some of us have groups working in tandem with a professor and first-year courses so it's more structured and then some of us don't have that so we have a bit more flexibility in terms of when we want to schedule meetings. I'm apart of the latter group and while I normally appreciate having some sort of structure, I chose not to be paired with a course and I'm looking forward to having more of that flexibility!
The mentors of our mentor group consist of Jenah, Luis, Chauncey, and myself. We decided it would be best if we all worked together as one big mentor group as opposed to each of us separately having a group so I'm really excited to get to work with them all! :)
Our goal is to get these mentor groups started within the next couple of weeks so on Sunday I'm working with Jenah to come up with a sign-up form and invitation so we can send them out to the students and on Monday the rest of us are having a meeting to plan out what activities we want to do, how often we have meetings, make introductory videos for our group, and things like that.
Like I said before, I think I'm really going to enjoy this mentor group and I can't wait to see how it turns out!
